✦ One of a kind item

Not-Just-A-Spoon Rest — this little hand-thrown piece does a lot more than park a spoon. Finished in our food-safe cone 6 glazes, it’s dishwasher-safe and microwaveable, ready for everyday kitchen challenges.

Most spoon rests are embossed on the interior with simple, gestural markings—everything from grasses, to a pineapple (a symbol of welcome), to sun-like motifs—so each one has its own personality.

A few ways to use it:

  • Spoon, ladle, or spatula rest (classic)

  • Colander drain catch for berries, rinsed herbs, or pasta

  • Small plate for oil & vinegar, salsas, or dips

  • Butter melter / warming dish (microwave-friendly)

  • Tea bag or lemon-wedge dish

And beyond the kitchen:

  • Soap dish or incense holder

  • Catch-all for keys or loose change

  • Tiny bedside tray for rings and earrings

Each spoon rest is made individually and carries subtle variations in form and surface, reflecting the handmade process and the natural materials from which it is formed.

Care, Use & Process

Each piece in the Potter’s Kitchen Collection is handmade in our studio using a combination of wheel-thrown and hand-cast methods. All glazes are food-safe and fired in an oxidation kiln to cone 6 for strength and durability.

These forms are designed for everyday use in the kitchen and are generally safe for the dishwasher and microwave. Subtle variations in shape, surface, and glaze are part of the handmade process and make each piece one of a kind.

Handmade pottery prefers gradual temperature changes. When removing hot pieces from the oven, rest them on a board, cloth, or trivet rather than directly on a cool surface.

Shipping & Handling

Each piece is carefully packed by hand in our studio using protective materials suitable for fragile ceramics. Shipping within the United States is included in the listed price.

Orders typically ship within a few business days. If a piece arrives damaged in transit, please contact us and we will make it right.

Potter's Kitchen

Michelle and Mike are potters who love to cook—and The Potter’s Kitchen Collection is where those two worlds meet. Inspired by the colors and textures of the season—eg., fresh garlic, berries, wild leeks, and fiddleheads—we focus our clay work on pieces made to live in the kitchen and come to the table often.

The collection includes handmade berry bowls and colanders, batter and mixing bowls, plates, spoon rests, salt cellars, garlic keepers, pasta bowl sets, and mugs—plus a small dash of our decorative favorites. Every piece is made by hand (wheel-thrown and hand-cast) and finished in food-safe glazes, fired to cone 6 in oxidation.

We're working on building inventory, so keep an eye on our website for current offerings as new work comes out of the studio.
